I told you everything

My days, my hopes, my fears I shared.

Held you as 'dear' within my heart - like a treasure - a precious trusted friend..

Loved you more than I could say...... or should I have said ...?

Then - a brief note from you - and now - you cut me dead - no words -

The gap between us widens and I grieve for my lost friend ...

I reached out, you moved away and now it hurts too much so I will reach no more.

Sleep ( or lack thereof )

Three hours !
Not much out of twenty four
followed by an hour of turning this way and that
all to no avail...
Went downstairs, put the kettle on, fed the cat ( again ).
Made some tea,
it comforts me a little when back in bed.
I sip the hot liquid watching the sky, still heavy with un-shed rain, grow lighter..
My eyes dry and gritty watch the break of a new day.
Another hour goes by - I get up - any more attempts to sleep I know will be futile.
